a great deal more than an art break
October 26 - 31
Watercolour - loose and free
BIG SKY ART is delighted to welcome Keith Hornblower, well known artist and tutor to our team. Following a career as an illustrator (Keith is a Fellow of the Society of Architectural Illustrators) he now devotes his time and energy in teaching and demonstrating the art of watercolour.
He has exhibited worldwide in exhibitionsincluding the Masters of Watercolour in St Petersburg and the Shenzhen Biennial in China. A regular exhibitor at the Mall Galleries with the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour he was awarded the Schmincke Prize for an outstanding work. His work has been featured in many publications and his videos are on DVD(Townhouse Films) and his own YouTube channel.
Keith’s popularity as a tutor is due to his ability to inspire and to encourage his students to take risks, paint loosely and with freedom. The light is everything to Keith and he will guide you through the use of tonalvalues to make your work sing with light, atmosphere and mood. His process is simple and uses very fewbrushes and a limited palette of colours.
Keith welcomes mistakes as being part of the process. In fact, it’s only the fear of messing up that prevents a person from painting with freedom - and ultimately producing an unexpected masterpiece!
Painting indoors in the studio and en plein air in nearby locations, you are assured of plenty of personal guidance dispensed with good humour. All abilities welcome, although some experience is preferred.
