Ian McManus AIEA

Ian McManus is a very popular and sought-after watercolour tutor who teaches both 'en plein air' (weather permitting) and indoors in the studio.

He brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to his workshops, paying individual attention to the needs of each student, thereby ensuring that his lessons are thoroughly enjoyable.

Many students praise him particularly for the immediate and ongoing improvement they find in their own painting.

Ian is completely self-taught - his reputation has grown following his highly acclaimed solo exhibitions over the last few years.  He became an Associate Member of the Institute of East Anglian Artists after his entry won the Picture of the Exhibition award, and in 2014 he was pre-selected for
the RI Exhibition of watercolour painters. His subjects range from landscapes and rural scenes to bustling street scenes where his use of dramatic effects of light and shade is enhanced by his confidence to incorporate figures.

He continues to develop his technique and believes that this gives his paintings a transparency and a freedom of expression which is so desirable in watercolour.
